Getting hit with pepper spray the assailant will experience intense burning of the skin…especially the eyes, causing them to swell shut and burn excessively. Also, pepper spray effects the mucous membranes of the nose, throat, and sinuses. When swelling occurs breathing becomes difficult.
Note: Even though tear gas is bad, it does not have the same inflammation and swelling impacts of OC.
How is Pepper Spray Made
Pepper spray is manufactured using peppers from the jungles and mountains of South America, famous around the world for their intense spicy texture. Oil and a propellant are added. The purpose of the oil in pepper spray is specifically for its clinging properties.
The pepper spray container is usually compact – modern personal pepper spray canisters aren’t much bigger than a tube of lipstick, most being small enough to fit on your key-chain. Very important when you need to use it at a moment’s notice.
